Full Semantic Transparency: Overcoming Boundaries of Applications

چکیده
Complex workflows require intelligent interactions. In this paper we attack the problem of combining user interfaces of specialized applications that support different aspects of objects in scientific/technical workflows with semantic technologies. We analyze the problem in terms of the (new) notion of full semantic transparency, i.e., the property of user interfaces to give full access to an underlying semantic object even beyond application lines. In a multiapplication case full semantic transparency is difficult, but can be achieved by representing the semantic objects in a structured ontology and actively supporting the application-specific framings of an object in a semantic interface manager. We evaluate the proposed framework in a situation where aspects of technical constructions are distributed across a CAD system, a spreadsheet application, and a knowledge base.

Crossing the Line: Overcoming Knowledge Boundaries in Enterprise Transformation
Enterprise transformations are fundamental changes in an organization. Such changes typically affect different stakeholder groups (e.g., program managers, business managers) that exhibit a significant diversity regarding their members’ knowledge, goals, and underlying assumptions. Yet, creating shared understanding among diverse stakeholder groups in transformations is a main antecedent for suc...
متن کاملتبیین مفهوم شفافیت در دورههای مدرن، پستمدرن و ارزیابی آن در معماری اسلامی ایرانی
In the history of architecture, since the architects sought to enter the light inside and as a result, its relationship with external conditions, the concept of transparency has been studied. Therefore, elements such as glass have been used to create transparency and entering the light. But because of lack of technical knowledge to achieve that goal, the less successes have been achieved. By th...
متن کاملTyped Cross - Module
Higher-order modules are very e ective in structuring large programs and de ning generic, reusable software components. Unfortunately, many compilation techniques for the core languages do not work across the module boundaries. As a result, few optimizing compilers support these module facilities well. This paper exploits the semantic property of ML-style modules to support e cient cross-module...
متن کاملSemClip - Overcoming the Semantic Gap Between Desktop Applications
When copying and pasting data between applications using the operating system clipboard, the semantics of the transfered information is usually lost. Using Semantic Web technologies these semantics can be explicitly defined in a machine process-able way and therefore be preserved during the data transfer. In this paper we introduce SemClip, our implementation of a Semantic Clipboard that enable...
متن کاملPredicting raters' transparency judgments of English and Chinese morphological constituents using latent semantic analysis.
The morphological constituents of English compounds (e.g., "butter" and "fly" for "butterfly") and two-character Chinese compounds may differ in meaning from the whole word. Subjective differences and ambiguity of transparency make judgments difficult, and a computational alternative based on a general model might be a way to average across subjective differences. In the present study, we propo...
